Wall to Participate in his Third State Farm All-Star Saturday Night
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The NBA announced today that Wizards guard John Wall will compete in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge as a part of the 2017 State Farm All-Saturday Saturday Night at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA.
The contest is the first event on Saturday night, February 18, as part of NBA All-Star Weekend festivities.
“Competing in the Skills Challenge will be a great part of my All-Star experience,” said Wall. “I’m looking forward to going up against a group of very talented players and will give it my all to bring the trophy back to D.C.”
Wall, making his fourth straight All-Star appearance, leads Eastern Conference guards with 27 games with 10+ assists and is third in the league among guards with 28 double-doubles. He had a streak of 33 games where he recorded a steal, the longest streak so far this season. Wall is the only player in the NBA to average at least 20 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals per game.
Wall will compete against the Devin Booker (Suns), DeMarcus Cousins (Kings), Anthony Davis (Pelicans), Joel Embiid (76ers), Gordon Hayward (Jazz), Kristaps Porzingis (Knicks) and Isaiah Thomas (Celtics) in this season’s edition of the Skills Challenge. This will be the third time Wall has competed in the skills challenge and the first time since the 2012 All-Star Weekend in Orlando. His first time in the event was in Los Angeles as a rookie in 2011. He was a dunk contest participant in 2014 in New Orleans.
The Taco Bell
® Skills Challenge format calls for two players to compete simultaneously on an identical course with the fastest finisher reaching the next round. In the first round, the eight players are paired to participate in four head-to-head competitions. The four winners advance to the second round, where two more head-to-head showdowns determine the two finalists.
